How Much Does Therapy Cost in Wyoming? A Plain-English Guide

"How much is this going to cost me?" is one of the most common questions we hear at Hope's Beacon — and one of the biggest reasons people put off getting help. So let's answer it plainly.

If You Have Insurance

Most people with insurance pay a copay per session, typically between $0 and $50 depending on your plan. At Hope's Beacon in Cheyenne, we bill all major insurance plans, including BCBS, Optum (UHC/UMR), Cigna, Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Victim Services.

Before your first appointment, it's worth a quick call to the number on the back of your insurance card. Ask three questions: Do I have outpatient mental health coverage? What is my copay or coinsurance for therapy? Do I have a deductible to meet first?

Our front office can also help you verify coverage — just call us at (307) 514-1288 and we'll walk through it with you.

If You're Paying Out of Pocket

Our self-pay rate is $100 per session. That's intentionally below the national average (typically $120–$200) because we believe cost shouldn't be the thing that keeps you from care. We also offer reduced-rate applications for those who need them — just ask.

Does Wyoming Medicaid Cover Therapy?

Yes. Wyoming Medicaid covers outpatient mental health services, and we accept it. If you're on Medicaid, your out-of-pocket cost for therapy at Hope's Beacon is typically nothing or very little.

What About the Free Consultation?

Every new patient can book a free 15-minute consultation before committing to anything. It's a chance to meet a counselor, ask questions, and see whether it feels like a fit — with zero cost and zero obligation.

The Real Math

A typical course of therapy runs 8–20 sessions. With insurance, that might total $80–$600 over several months. Compare that to what untreated anxiety or depression costs — in missed work, strained relationships, and sleepless nights — and therapy is one of the most cost-effective investments most people ever make in themselves.

Have questions about your specific plan? Call us at (307) 514-1288 or send a message through our contact page. We'll give you a straight answer before you ever book.
