LGBTQ+ Counseling
Affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals and couples.
Finding a therapist who truly gets it — who won't pathologize your identity, ask unnecessary questions about your gender or sexuality, or assume your orientation is the problem — shouldn't be this hard. At Hope's Beacon in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we offer affirming, identity-competent counseling for LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families in a part of the country where that's not always easy to find.
Our therapists understand that LGBTQ+ people often carry a specific kind of weight: minority stress, family rejection, discrimination, internalized shame, and the particular grief of navigating identity in communities that may not fully welcome you. We take these experiences seriously as real sources of psychological distress — not symptoms to cure, but wounds that deserve care.
What We Help With
We support LGBTQ+ clients with a wide range of concerns — including anxiety, depression, trauma (including conversion therapy trauma), coming out at any stage of life, navigating religious identity alongside LGBTQ+ identity, relationship issues, body image, and grief. We also support parents and family members who are working to understand and affirm a loved one who has come out.
Gender-Affirming Care
We provide supportive counseling for transgender and nonbinary individuals at any point in their journey — exploration, social transition, and navigating family or community responses. We can also coordinate with medical providers when evaluation letters are needed for gender-affirming healthcare.
Youth and Young Adults
LGBTQ+ youth face significantly elevated risks of depression, anxiety, and suicidality — especially in environments that are not affirming. Our therapists work with teens and young adults in a compassionate, developmentally appropriate way, and can help families become safer spaces for their LGBTQ+ children.
Telehealth Across Wyoming
We know that rural Wyoming doesn't always offer LGBTQ+-affirming services nearby. Our secure telehealth option means you can see an affirming therapist from the privacy and comfort of your own home, anywhere in the state.

Our counselors draw on a range of approaches — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, EMDR, and mindfulness-based techniques — tailored to you, not a template. We bill all major insurance plans including BCBS, Optum (UHC/UMR), Cigna, Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Victim Services. Self-pay is $100/session, and reduced-rate options are available.
