Anger Management Counseling
Understanding what's underneath, not just managing the surface.
Anger is a natural human emotion — but when it begins to damage relationships, threaten your career, or push the people you love away, it's worth taking seriously. At Hope's Beacon Counseling in Cheyenne, Wyoming, our therapists help clients develop a healthier relationship with anger: understanding where it comes from, what it's protecting, and how to express it in ways that don't leave a trail of hurt.
Many people who struggle with anger management are dealing with more than frustration at the surface. Unresolved trauma, grief, chronic stress, anxiety, or depression often fuel explosive or sustained anger. Our clinicians take a whole-person approach — we don't just teach you to count to ten. We work to identify the roots of your anger and change your relationship with it from the inside out.
Evidence-Based Approaches We Use
Our therapists draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge the thought patterns that accelerate anger, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for emotion regulation and distress tolerance, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to understand the protective parts of your personality that express themselves through rage. Mindfulness-based techniques help clients recognize the physical signs of anger before they escalate — giving you a window to choose a different response.
Who We Work With
We support adults, teens, couples, and families in Cheyenne and across Wyoming via telehealth. Whether your anger is explosive and sudden or quiet and simmering — expressed outward or turned inward as self-criticism — we have the tools to help. We also work with court-referred clients and individuals seeking to preserve important relationships.
What to Expect
Sessions typically begin with a thorough intake to understand your history, triggers, and goals. From there we build a personalized plan that fits your life. Most clients notice meaningful change within 8–16 sessions, though the pace is always yours to set. We offer in-person appointments in Cheyenne and telehealth to clients anywhere in Wyoming.
If anger has been controlling your life, you don't have to white-knuckle it alone. Reach out to Hope's Beacon — we're accepting new patients now.
Our counselors draw on a range of approaches — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, EMDR, and mindfulness-based techniques — tailored to you, not a template. We bill all major insurance plans including BCBS, Optum (UHC/UMR), Cigna, Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Victim Services. Self-pay is $100/session, and reduced-rate options are available.
