Women's Issues Counseling
Support around the unique challenges women face.
Women's lives are full — often too full. The expectations placed on women to perform competence at work, warmth at home, patience with everyone, and contentment with whatever's left over create a particular kind of exhaustion that doesn't have a clean name. Add to that the specific experiences that shape women's lives — reproductive health, postpartum adjustment, menopause, body image, relationship dynamics, and too often trauma and harassment — and you have a person who has learned to need a lot while asking for very little.
At Hope's Beacon in Cheyenne, Wyoming, our therapists offer counseling that takes women's actual lives seriously. We don't pathologize exhaustion or label appropriate anger as a disorder. We help women understand what they're carrying, set down what doesn't belong to them, and build lives that reflect their actual values and needs.
What We Address
Anxiety and depression are the most common presenting concerns for women in our practice — but underneath them we often find perfectionism, chronic people-pleasing, difficulty with self-worth, and patterns learned in relationships with controlling or critical partners or parents. We also address postpartum depression and anxiety, grief around infertility or pregnancy loss, the transition into motherhood, sexual trauma and its long-term effects, and navigating major life transitions that disproportionately affect women.
A Feminist-Informed Lens
We take seriously the social and cultural context in which women live. Therapy that ignores the structural realities of women's lives can inadvertently blame clients for circumstances that are genuinely difficult. Our therapists are trained in feminist approaches that help women distinguish between internal struggles and external pressures — and address both.
Confidential and Affirming
