Life Transitions Counseling
Support during big shifts — careers, moves, identity changes, milestones.
Change is inevitable. But knowing that doesn't make it easier when your world shifts in ways you didn't expect — or even in ways you chose. Life transitions, even positive ones, can leave us feeling unmoored, anxious, grieving, or simply lost. Therapy during times of change gives you a place to process the past, steady yourself in the present, and think clearly about what comes next.
At Hope's Beacon in Cheyenne, Wyoming, our therapists work with adults and teens navigating transitions of every kind — from the expected to the devastating. We're here for the moments when who you used to be and who you're becoming don't quite line up yet.
Transitions We Commonly Support
Our clients come to us during divorce or separation, retirement, job loss or career change, relocation (including PCS moves for military families), becoming a parent, children leaving home (empty nest), graduation and entering the workforce, medical diagnosis, recovery from addiction, and loss of identity after leaving a church, community, or belief system. No transition is too "small" to deserve support.
Military Transitions
Separating from military service is one of the most profound identity transitions a person can experience. Our therapists understand the unique challenges of leaving the structure, community, and purpose of the military — and the difficulty of helping family members adjust alongside you. We also support families navigating PCS moves and deployment cycles.
Our Approach
We use person-centered and narrative therapy approaches to help clients make meaning of their experience and write the next chapter intentionally. We also draw from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help clients clarify values and move forward when circumstances are outside their control. Mindfulness-based techniques help manage the anxiety that transition almost always brings.
In Person and Via Telehealth
We offer in-person appointments at our Cheyenne office and secure video sessions for clients anywhere in Wyoming. Most major insurance plans accepted, including Tricare.
If you're in the middle of a change and need someone in your corner, contact Hope's Beacon today.
Our counselors draw on a range of approaches — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, EMDR, and mindfulness-based techniques — tailored to you, not a template. We bill all major insurance plans including BCBS, Optum (UHC/UMR), Cigna, Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Victim Services. Self-pay is $100/session, and reduced-rate options are available.
