We eagerly welcomed Shannon to the Hope's Beacon Counseling team in June 2026. Her in-depth experience working with children, teens, and their families coupled with her compassion and enthusiasm to positively influence those around her definitely makes her a perfect fit for our team! Shannon has spent her career establishing, building, and maintaining warm and supportive relationships. Whether that be her time working with teens in residential facilities, supporting young children and their families with specialized developmental and educational needs, assisting teens in navigating the nuances of high school, or supporting individuals in both the non-profit and out-patient worlds with the challenges that are impacting their daily lives. Shannon values the trust and relationship needed to support individuals as they journey toward a changed self.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the Oklahoma Christian University campus of Cascade College, Shannon moved back to Wyoming and began her work with children. Through her work in residential treatment facilities and as a home visitor and special educator, Shannon has supported children and their families during some of the most difficult times of their lives. In 2020 and 2021, Shannon returned to school with Lubbock Christian University, earning a Master's in both School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, allowing a truly individualized and deeper understanding of the persons she works with.

Shannon is a wife and mother who loves her human family and fur-babies, nature's beauty, a good book, how music can speak and express so much more than words, and traveling the world to explore the foods and culture of this diverse planet. She believes one has a better understanding of oneself by stepping out of their comfort zone and allowing new experiences to help gain personal insight and growth.

Get to know Shannon

What led you to become a counselor?

I have always had a desire to support and help people. That has never changed, but the way in which that support was provided altered over the years. I realized that one person can help another but that it truly needs to be based on individual experiences and not some cookie-cutter solution. We will work to find what works for you!

What is your counseling style and what will our first session together be like?

I am eclectic in my counseling style, utilizing CBT, EMDR, Solution Focused, and Neuroscience for a client-focused session and plan. Our first session will be a gathering of information and an explanation of what to expect in our time together, and taking the first step in building a foundation of trust between us.

What can I expect when working with you?

I provide a non-judgmental space where I take my lead from you. My goal is to assist you in building knowledge and skills to help you engage in your daily life while addressing the short- and long-term challenges you experience.

What is it about Hope's Beacon values and priorities that you really connect with?

Having worked in non-profit and for-profit organizations, the bottom line was frequently the priority — making sure a 'quota' was met. Hope's Beacon is not like that! A focus on truly individualized and personal care is their mission.
